estimarlo preview

Planning poker for sprint planning, built with a single goal: no friction. Two clicks take you into a session, one more copies the link, and colleagues are in just as fast, with no signup. Something that already exists a hundred times over, I wanted to build once so that it is genuinely good.

Where it started

Our estimates happen on a call. There the tool has to do just one thing: be the single place where everyone submits their estimate while the discussion stays in the conversation. The existing tools never got that right for me. Either they required a signup, or, where that was not needed, the handling was mediocre at best. Many also force a flow on you where you have to create stories before you can even estimate. For a tool you only need briefly, to hand in a number, nobody wants to set up an account.

The tool should stay out of the way

That became the principle behind estimarlo: stay out of the way, but offer more when you need more. You start right away without an account and can reuse a session as often as you like. Anyone who wants the full feature set gets it, without having it pushed on them.

Part of that is drawing no artificial lines. I cap neither rounds nor sessions to nudge you toward paying after a while. Monetization can be drawn somewhere else, without punishing someone who only needs the tool now and then.

Under the surface everything runs in real time, with no reload. That was the second reason for the project: to take my favorite stack once and build something done a hundred times over so that it stands out from the rest through a clean, frictionless interface.

My role

Everything. Idea, design, UX, build, and operation. estimarlo is mine from the first line to launch.
